MBI’s Beers & Peers
You may be familiar with MBI’s Beers & Peers events, but do you know how they got started? It wasn’t always an open-to-the-community event… it actually started as an intimate gathering of a few MBI entrepreneurs coming together at the end of a Thursday to drink a few brews in our Community Room and talk out the scientific queries and roadblocks they were facing. A musical number would also break out every once in a while (we cannot confirm nor deny that this was beer-fueled shenanigans). As the popularity of these monthly meet-ups grew in popularity, the original founders handed the reins to the MBI and told us they wanted us to use our network to grow the Beers & Peers invite list. Today, MBI’s Beers & Peers are sponsored by our friends at eLabNext and are held on a quarterly basis. We typically see about 50-100 attendees at each event and depending on the weather and season, we like to host them outside and even theme them. Our last Beers & Peers was Oktoberfest themed, complete with sauerkraut, bratwurst, pretzels and beer cheese, steins, and German music.
