Trustee Spotlight: David Grenon
A cherished friend and steadfast supporter of MBI, David Grenon truly embodies the spirit of collaboration and entrepreneurship. With humility at his core, David has always stood tall in the face of challenge, never one to shy away from controversy when it meant doing the right thing. A proud native of Central Massachusetts, he founded the Protector Group Insurance Agency, which later became part of Marsh McLennan, and played a role in the growth of Commerce Insurance.
During his time as Chair, he guided our nonprofit through a transitional time – the evolution of the Massachusetts Biomedical Research Institute (MBRI) into what we now proudly call Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI). Working closely with (now former) MBI Presidents Mark Roosevelt and Kevin O’Sullivan, David’s leadership helped build invaluable partnerships with local industries, academic institutions, and hospitals, laying the foundation for the success we continue to build upon today.
Beyond his contributions to MBI, David has enriched our community by serving as a former Chairman of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents and was an American Name at Llyod’s of London. David also served as a Trustee at Assumption University and as a board member at the Worcester Business Development Center and Fallon Health. His generosity, dedication, and vision have left a lasting legacy for not just MBI, but the entire City of Worcester.
