Building a Hub of Innovation: MBI and the Founding of Worcester’s Biotech Park
Worcester’s Biotech Park stands as a testament to the power of vision, partnership, and innovation in Central Massachusetts. Established in the early years of the biotech revolution, this dedicated biotechnology park was among the first of its kind in the Commonwealth. MBI was at the forefront of this transformative project. Our role in creating the Biotech Park exemplifies our mission of fostering regional growth and supporting life sciences startups.
MBI played a critical role in the development of the park, recognizing the need for dedicated space to support life sciences innovation outside the traditional biotech hubs of Boston and Cambridge. Through collaboration with industry partners, local government, and academic institutions, MBI spearheaded efforts to establish Worcester’s Biotech Park as a thriving center for biotech research and development. The park attracted major life sciences companies and served as a launching pad for innovative startups, providing much-needed infrastructure, lab space, and community support to drive the growth of the industry.
Today, the park is home to some of the industry’s leading names, including AbbVie, Biotech’s I-V, and The Reactory, a biomanufacturing park designed to meet the demands of modern biotechnology production. MBI’s vision and leadership in the park’s founding have catalyzed decades of growth in Worcester’s life sciences sector, helping to establish the city as a key player in biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
MBI’s early work with the Biotech Park set the foundation for Central Massachusetts’ rise as a life sciences hub, fulfilling its mission of supporting the ecosystem that turns scientific discovery into impactful products and therapies. MBI remains dedicated to fostering innovation in Worcester, ensuring the Biotech Park continues to drive economic development and scientific breakthroughs.
