Founder Judy Carmody started Avatar pharmaceutical services in 2002 as an FDA-registered contract research organization. The startup specialized in providing customized analytical services in areas such as GMP, ICH stability, mass spectroscopy to drive the next generation of therapeutic development. Avatar Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2010.
